AmFACT President Adriana Jones Warns More Action Needed to Protect Americans from Mexican Cartels
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, American Families Against Cartel Terrorism (AmFACT) President Adriana Jones released a statement in response to the announcement by the U.S. Department of State designating Venezuela-based Cartel de los Soles as a Foreign Terrorist Organization. Adriana is the sister of Maria “Rhonita” LeBaron and aunt to Rhonita’s young children Howard Miller Jr., Krystal Miller, and Titus and Tiana Miller — all U.S. citizens and victims of the horrific 2019 massacre carried out by the Juárez Cartel and its armed wing, La Línea.
“The terrorist designation of the Cartel de los Soles is an important reminder that the Trump administration is willing to use Foreign Terrorist Organization designations to combat dangerous drug and human trafficking cartels. For families like mine, who know the pain of losing loved ones to truly horrific cartel violence, the Trump administration’s repeated use of this critical tool is a sign that the United States remains committed to protecting Americans and confronting those who threaten our safety.
“We will continue to ask policymakers to crack down on the Juárez Cartel and its armed wing, La Línea, by designating them as Foreign Terrorist Organizations. Each day these groups continue to exist without this designation allows them space to operate with impunity and heightens the likelihood that more American families will endure the same grief and devastation we have, whether through targeted violence, the spread of deadly drugs, or the trafficking of vulnerable people.”
