WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, American Families Against Cartel Terrorism (AmFACT) President Adriana Jones released a statement in response to the announcement by the U.S. Department of State designating Clan del Golfo, a Colombian cartel, as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). Adriana is sister to Maria “Rhonita” LeBaron and aunt to Howard Miller Jr., Krystal Miller, and Titus and Tiana Miller — all U.S. citizens and victims of the brutal massacre carried out by the Juárez Cartel and its armed wing La Línea in 2019:
“The designation of Clan del Golfo as a Foreign Terrorist Organization is a stark reminder of the real and present danger that transnational criminal organizations pose to American families. Drug cartels flood our towns and cities with deadly drugs, fuel violence, and tear apart families across the United States.
“As someone who has experienced firsthand the devastating loss of loved ones to cartel violence, I am grateful the Trump Administration continues to take action against these cartels and I strongly believe the administration should expand the Foreign Terrorist Organization designation list to include the Mexican Juárez Cartel and its armed wing, La Línea – the groups that brutally massacred nine Americans, including members of my family, in 2019. These criminal organizations continue to destabilize our border and destroy our communities, and we must use every tool at our disposal to stop them.”
